If Maria and Luis had been talking with any of the other grown up characters, it wouldnвЂ™t be the same, because itвЂ™s lacking the child perspective that makes situations like this so entertaining, at least for me. What makes this so great is the childlike innocence these two bring to this situation. This scene starts out with the two gentle giants playing cowboys, when they notice Maria and Luis cross the street while holding hands, which confuses them both, because they know that only kids have to hold hands with grown-ups when crossing the street, so why would two grown ups do something they didnвЂ™t have to do? So in true western fashion, they split up, with Big Bird talking to Maria and Snuffy to Luis, and through their questioning they get the love birds to confess that they love each other.

And that key element isвЂ¦ the inclusion of Big Bird and Snuffy. Now IвЂ™m gonna start this section off by saying that thereвЂ™s one key element that makes this moment click for me, and if this element wasnвЂ™t present, this moment would most likely not be included in this list. I told you this would come up later in this list. #9: Luis and Maria realizing theyвЂ™re in love in episode 2404 ItвЂ™s just a really clever segment that focuses on setting up your expectations before immediately toppling them over.

ItвЂ™s really one of those moments that leans more on the humor side than the educational side, and those are always a treat to watch. At the start of the segment, you think itвЂ™s gonna be a game where whoever participates gets to use their thinking skills, and the mystery item wonвЂ™t get revealed until the very end, but then Cookie Monster and his one-track mind come along and make the experience all about cookies, get Kermit to reveal the mystery item and he only gets what he wanted through manipulation. What makes this sketch so funny is how derailed it gets from what was set up. When he wants a cookie, heвЂ™ll stop at nothing to get it, so he actually gives a speech about how friends give each other cookies, and essentially guilts Kermit into giving the cookie to him anyway. Naturally, Kermit doesnвЂ™t want to give Cookie Monster a cookie he didnвЂ™t earn, but you know Cookie Monster. Even then, he doesnвЂ™t make any real attempt to listen to the clues presented to him, and only gets the right answer after Kermit straight up tells him what it is.

If youвЂ™re wondering how Cookie Monster gets roped into playing, he initially declines as soon as he finds out the thing isnвЂ™t a cookie and only agrees to guess when Kermit says heвЂ™ll give him a cookie afterwards.

Kermit has set up a game where whoever guesses whatвЂ™s inside a box he put out, can keep the thing inside. Like in this segment IвЂ™m gonna talk about right now. WeвЂ™ve already talked about how Cookie MonsterвЂ™s obsession makes it hard for him to be patient, but it also makes it hard for his friends, like Kermit the Frog, to be patient with him. WeвЂ™re down to the top 10, and weвЂ™re on another Cookie Monster moment.
